The 2024 baseball season was, to say the least…memorable.
So, as the calendar changes from 2024 to 2025, it’s crucial to reflect on everything that has happened these past 12 months both on and off the diamond.
Most important…what were the TOP TEN, er, ELEVEN listened to episodes of The Hall of Very Good Podcast?
Here you go!
11. MICHAEL KREMER (Episode 407)
The volunteer director of the San Quentin baseball program joins the boys to talk about how he got involved coaching baseball at one of America’s most notorious prisons (and what people think when he tells them what he does), the history of baseball at San Quentin, the diversity and skill level of the players, celebrity sightings, whether or not and scouts have shown up and that one inmate who almost went pro.

10. LLOYD KAUFMAN (Episode 408)
Legendary director/producer Lloyd Kaufman joins the boys to talk about collecting baseball cards and how they likely made him root for the Cincinnati Reds, hanging out with Oliver Stone and George W. Bush at Yale (true story), how he got into film, founding Troma and keeping up with protégés James Gunn and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
9. DON AUGUST (Episode 437)
The former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher and author returns to talk to the boys about turning his international baseball career into the book, Pitching to the Corners, what countries had the best (and the most interesting) food, whether or not he’s surprised by what his former big league is doing this season and how he’d pitch to Shohei Ohtani.
8. ROBERT WUHL (Episode 410)
Just in time to celebrate the 35th anniversary of "Batman", the award-winning actor and writer returns to talk to the boys about working with Tim Burton, carpooling with Jack Nicholson, (definitely not) stealing items from the set, re-visits commissioner Rob Manfred’s rule changes and does a deep dive previewing the 2024 baseball season.
7. JIMMY LONETTI (Episode 441)
The baseball glove repair specialist joins the boys to talk about when he got his start and, most importantly, the moment he realized he was good at what he was doing, moving D&J Glove Repair from the garage to the nation’s only brick and mortar location of its kind, what prompted the recent uptick in interest, the worst thing you can do to your mitt and if he misses his old gig delivering mail.
6. SIMEON LIPMAN (Episode 442)
The pop culture specialist and longtime appraiser returns to talk to the boys about the unique connection between baseball and historical memorabilia, the amazing foresight of Hall of Fame catcher Ray Schalk, that time he hung out with a certain former U.S. president, the recent grail piece he picked up for his personal collection and remembers the excellence of Fernando Valenzuela.
